Venezuela Joins Marrakesh Treaty as 59th Member

WIPO Director General Francis Gurry welcomed Venezuela’s October 2, 2019, accession to WIPO’s Marrakesh Treaty to Facilitate Access to Published Works for Persons Who Are Blind, Visually Impaired or Otherwise Print Disabled. The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela is the 59th contracting party to the Marrakesh Treaty, which now covers 86 countries.

Director General Gurry was joined in the ceremony by Ambassador Jorge Valero, Permanent Representative of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva and Alberto Rey Martínez, Director General, Autonomous Service of Intellectual Property (SAPI).

The meeting took place on the margins of the Fifty-Ninth Series of Meetings of the Assemblies of WIPO Member States, which are meeting in Geneva from September 30 to October 9, 2019.
