Navigating Traditional Knowledge and IP – The Story of the Yakuanoi (with Inuktitut subtitles)

Although the intellectual property system can be used to promote and protect traditional knowledge (being knowledge that has ancient roots and is often oral), traditional knowledge is not always protected by the conventional intellectual property system. This short 4-minute animation tells the story of the Yakuanoi people – a fictitious indigenous community – as they navigate through the key issues regarding intellectual property and traditional knowledge.
