LOS ANGELES – 13 June 2019 – Today, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) published the results of its Five-Year NextGen@ICANN Survey. Nearly all respondents said that participating in the NextGen Program has enhanced their academic and professional development.

As part of the program’s five-year anniversary, the survey was sent to former participants to determine the program’s impact on their academic and professional lives and engagement with ICANN, as well as to collect feedback on ways to increase participation and improve the program.

The NextGen Program aims to broaden participation in ICANN by providing opportunities for university students to attend ICANN Public Meetings. It is intended for undergraduate and graduate students aged 18-30 studying in the region where the ICANN Public Meeting is taking place.

About ICANN

ICANN’s mission is to help ensure a stable, secure, and unified global Internet. To reach another person on the Internet, you need to type an address – a name or a number – into your computer or other device. That address must be unique so computers know where to find each other. ICANN helps coordinate and support these unique identifiers across the world. ICANN was formed in 1998 as a not-for-profit public-benefit corporation with a community of participants from all over the world.
