International Internet Stakeholders to Convene in Johannesburg for ICANN’s 59th Public Meeting, & 10th Meeting in Africa

Johannesburg, South Africa… The Internet Corporation of Assigned Names & Numbers (ICANN) will hold its 59th Public Meeting in the Johannesburg Sandton Convention Center from 26-29 June 2017. This meeting is ICANN’s second ever Policy Forum, which is focused on policy work & outreach. It is also the tenth time an ICANN meeting will be held in Africa, a continent of great online potential.
Hosted by the ZA Domain Name Authority (.ZADNA), the meeting will bring together worldwide & regional Internet stakeholders for four days, to develop policy related to the Internet’s Domain Name System (DNS).
One of the highlight topics of ICANN59 for media is the Key Signing Rollover (KSK Rollover). ICANN is in the process of performing a Root Zone DNS Security Extensions (DNSSEC) KSK rollover to replace the top-level cryptographic keys used in DNSSEC, which will happen on the 11th October 2017. Released jointly by WIPO, Cornell University, INSEAD & the 2017 GII Knowledge Partners, the Confederation of Indian Industry, PwC’s Strategy& and the National Confederation of Industry (CNI) and Brazilian Micro & Small Business Support Service (Sebrae) Switzerland, Sweden, the Netherlands, the USA & the UK are the world’s most-innovative countries, while a group of nations including India, Kenya, & Viet Nam are outperforming their development-level peers, according to the Global Innovation Index 2017 co-authored by Cornell University, INSEAD & the International Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).
